Marriage Law & Family Law Awareness

Marriage Law Awareness:Know Your Rights, Protect Your Future

Every woman deserves to enter, live in, and — if needed — leave a marriage knowing exactly what the law protects.

At SSWHub, we believe awareness is the first form of protection. When a woman understands her marriage rights and responsibilities, she no longer depends on hearsay or fear — she stands on solid legal ground.

The Reality Women Face

The gap isn't in the law. It's in the awareness of it.

For millions of women across Pakistan, marriage is governed by laws written to protect them — laws that rarely reach the women they were written for.

The result is a cycle that repeats across generations:

Women sign documents they have never read, often under family pressure.

Critical clauses — covering Haq Mehr, maintenance, and the right to seek Khula — are left blank or crossed out.

When disputes arise, women discover too late that the legal rights of a wife in Pakistan were already theirs to claim.

This is not a story of weak women. It is a story of withheld information — and information is exactly what we restore.

3%

In one major provincial study of women’s marriage rights, only around three percent of marriage contracts delegated the wife the right to divorce — leaving the vast majority without a clause that family law allows.

Our Sustainable Solution

Lasting knowledge — not temporary relief.

A one-time handout fades, but knowledge stays for life. Our program equips women with the legal literacy, confidence, and support network they keep long after our sessions end.

Know-Your-Rights Education

We translate complex law into clear, everyday language — how to read every column of the Nikahnama, what each clause means, and which marriage legal requirements make a marriage valid and protected, before anything is signed.

Guidance on Family Court Procedures

Confusion should never be the reason a woman loses what is hers. Trained facilitators walk women through family court procedures step by step — divorce laws, the independent right to Khula, child support laws, custody, and maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to the questions women ask most.

Does SSWHub provide legal advice or representatio

We provide education and connection. Our role is to build marriage law awareness and link women to verified legal-aid partners. For case-specific decisions, we ensure you reach a qualified lawyer — you are never navigating it alone.

I’m already married and never read my Nikahnama. Is it too late?

No. Understanding your existing rights, maintenance entitlements, and options under divorce laws is valuable at any stage. Knowing where you stand today is always the right first step.

What does the program cover regarding children?

We explain child support laws, custody principles, and how family court procedures protect children’s welfare — so decisions about your children are made with full knowledge of your rights.

Is the program only for women in crisis?

Not at all. The most powerful protection happens before problems arise. We welcome women preparing for marriage, those wanting to understand their marriage rights and responsibilities, and supporters who want to spread awareness.

How can I support this work?

You can join as a participant, volunteer as a community mentor, or donate to sustain our women marriage rights education across Pakistan. Every contribution extends knowledge to another woman who needs it.
